Tropical Storm Earl developed into Hurricane Earl late last week and the latest projected path for the storm was released today by
the National Weather Service (NWS).
The storm reached a category 1 classification on Sunday while Earl was 150 miles east of the islands. Currently, the highest sustained winds are sitting at around 85 miles per hour with some higher gusts. It will be heading west-northwest at 14 MPH.
The U.S. National Hurricane Center in Miami said that Hurricane Earl, with maximum sustained winds of 75 mph (120 kph), could hit the northern Leeward Islands later Sunday.
